Manhattan Lions Scholarship Awarded

The Manhattan Lions Club is very proud to announce that our 2009 scholarship was awarded to Emma Richardson of Manhattan. The selection committee found Emma’s resume to be impressive, and some of her accomplishments are as follows: a grade point average of 4.724; she is academically ranked 13 out of 730 students in her class; named an Illinois State Scholar, and she is a National Merit Commended Student. She has also been involved in the National Honor Society; the track and tennis teams; she is a peer tutor and a member of the Lincoln-Way Leo Club. Emma plans to use the $1,000.00 scholarship for tuition at the University of Notre Dame where she will be pursuing a pre-med degree in Biology. Congratulations Emma! GRRRREAT job!

Activities :

What We Do

We collect used eyeglasses at the Manhattan Post Office and at both branches of the First Bank of Manhattan.

We fund a $1,000.00 college scholarship for a Lincoln-Way Central High School senior.

We support the Manhattan Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts; the Manhattan Public Library; the Manhattan Township Food Pantry and Operation Care Package.

We also sponsor the Lions Hearing Van, Candy Days, an annual blood drive, the Manteno Veterans Home, and we provide eye exams for those in need. Last but not least, we provide a service to the village by posting your events on The Manhattan Lions Community Bulletin Board.
